Potentially great news for anyone shipping goods from GB to Northern Ireland following yesterday's power-sharing announcement.
Still work to be done, but - for anyone who doesn't want to read the 80 page document (link below just in case) - some of the key points indicate a far smoother flow of goods within the UK.
'A new long term, permanent UK Internal Market Guarantee to protect historic trade flows between GB and Northern Ireland.
The Government will commit that more than 80% of all freight movements from GB to NI take place under the UK internal market scheme, with independent scrutiny'.
It remains to be seen how this will materially differ from the UKIM scheme which came into place in September, but we welcome any simplification of the process for our customers.
